I have always had a deep passion for fishing and particularly casting lures - whether they are topwater lures for Kingfish or an artificial fly for rainbow or brown trout.

This passion led me to start building my own topwater lures. After much prototyping, testing, successes, and failures NaCl Lures was born to fulfil my desire to imitate the food sources of New Zealand’s sport fish.

NaCl Lures is guided by a handcrafted methodology steeped in traditional timber lure construction. I make everything in small batches in the NaCl Lures workshop in Wellington, New Zealand. Each lure is hand shaped from locally sourced Paulownia timber, and individually hand painted.

All I’m trying to do is to make the lures that I want to use as an angler first and foremost, and if I can make a small contribution to the topwater community that has given me so much through the connections and friendships I’ve made, then that’s an epic thing.
